Alex Chilton used the guitar in a beautiful melodic but rock-n-roll way. He made the guitar into a perfect accompaniment for the melodies he sang, and the ones Chris Bell sang in Big Star. It's that twangy melodic but powerful sound I want to learn to play as I have taken up the guitar again after 20 years of not touching it!
